Body Idioms 肢体成语

Dear friends, I came across some body idioms while reading Twilight, like "roll one's eyes" or "cross one's fingers". Could you please tell me the meanings of these common gestures? Thank you very much!

English has lots of body idioms.

Today, Finn and Yang Li explain the idioms roll one's eyes and cross one's fingers, which our listener Libby came across in the Twilight books.

Listen out for these idioms which they mention in the programme:

Frog in your throat

Talk behind my back

Fingers crossed

Cross your fingers and wish for the best

Roll your eyes

Get our teeth into it

Jump out of your skin

Jump down my throat

Pull your leg

Cross my fingers

Up to our eyeballs

Tongue-tied

Put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into something
