Chinese Accent 1 中国人的英语口音:单音篇

Chinese learners of English are more likely to speak English with a Chinese accent. I would like to find out what these specific syllables are, and what I should pay attention to when speaking?

Clare, Hebei

Many Chinese learners of English might think they can read the following sentences easily:

These three brothers threw their things.

All the little girls called me into the hall.

The girl in white invited me to watch a video.

That fool put the beans into the full bin.

Yes, they look easy to read but the problem is that many Chinese learners don't realise they are pronouncing some sounds here incorrectly because they can't hear the difference.

Incorrect pronunciation can lead to misunderstandings with native English speakers.

Young Chinese businesspeople

More and more young Chinese professionals are speaking English nowadays

In this first programme in a special series on English pronunciation, Alice Castle and Wang Fei find out what sounds are often wrongly pronounced by Chinese learners of English and how they can improve their pronunciation.

很多中国人读英语的时候有一些易读错的音,但是他们意识不到,因为他们听不出正确读音和错误读音之间的区别。在今天的节目中我们将讨论中国人容易读错的几个音,并且介绍非常有用的技巧和练习。
